To make this easy to wear and easy to wash Snow White dress, first start with my Beautiful Dreamer pattern:

You will make the short sleeve version of the nightgown. This pattern includes sizes 1-12 so you can be making princess dresses for a long time!!! Or, of course nightgowns as the pattern was intended. :)
On Ellie's Snow White dress, I omitted the placket in the skirt since it was just a play dress. However, it was tight to get it on over her head so I would recommend still doing the placket. However, I did not do buttons. I just sewed velcro to the closing so that it is easy on/easy off for dressing up.
I also wanted the skirt fuller so I made each skirt piece the full width of the fabric - 44 inches.

I also added some things to make it very "princess-like": a white stand-up collar, red embellishments for the sleeves, a big red sash that ties in the back (instead of the red cape to make it easier to play in) and a bit of braided trim down the center of the bodice.

You can download those pattern pieces here.
So, you will need one-eighth yard of white cotton fabric and one-eighth yard of a heavy interfacing such as Peltex for the collar, one-half yard of red cotton fabric for the sash and sleeve embellishments, one-fourth yard of a braided trim for the bodice embellishment, and one package of velcro.
