It's DONE!! Now time for a Giveaway!

Posted by Laura Johnson on April 26, 2010 at 3:45 AM

Okay all you silly ladies who kept emailing me and emailing me to find out when I would finally be finished writing Dancer!  Well,

IT'S DONE!!!

That means it is time for my Giveaway!  Four may not be a particularly special number to most people but it is to me. I have four kids, I have four pets, and I really wanted the last four cookies for lunch today (but the kids beat me to them!)...and I now have FOUR patterns out! So, I am offering my first Giveaway to celebrate!

The winner will receive each of my four patterns and enough fabric to make the Dancer skirt in any size!

Isn't this fabric so fun for summer?  It is from Bessie Mary.  Jan at Bessie Mary has a beautiful blog and store.  Stop by and see her other yummy fabric!

This giveaway has a total value of  $80.00!!!

And wait, there's one more thing I must tell you.  This week I am going to be rewriting my first three patterns.  I have learned lots since my first pattern and those of you who have already purchased these patterns from me, don't panic!  I'm not changing the pattern pieces or the construction of the garments.  What I am changing is adding more diagrams and explaining things more fully so that even the most basic beginner sewer will not have any difficulty with the instructions.  So, the winner of this Giveaway will receive the VERY FIRST of the revised patterns!

Here are the rules to be entered into the drawing:

1. Become a follower of my blog.  If you were a member before, it does not count.  You must be listed in my Google Friend Connect since I am no longer using the other member log.

2. Post a comment to this post. Tell me how you heard about me and how you learned to sew.

3. Link to this post on your blog and leave the link your comment.

If you do all three, you will be entered three times in the drawing.Giveaway ends Saturday, May 1st at midnight.  Good luck!

Edited to add:  Some have mentioned that they are getting notification of every comment left after them.  I put a message into Tech Support but until they change some things, you may want to go in and edit your profile so your inbox doesn't get crammed with new comments!  Just sign in and on the far left, there will be a button to edit your profile.  If you don't understand what I mean, just email me!  Of course if you want to see others' stories on how they learned to love sewing, just check your inbox.  :)

Hi, Laura...I'm so excited to see the pattern ready for us to order--and I have!!!! Hurrah!!!!

Contest: Laura, I first heard of you on a forum we are both on...I lovd the things you had up, and thought, oh, dear, just for the little ones--then you came out with this skirt up to a size 8...I'm so excited-and it is fun to know you via the forum.

How did I learn to sew. I have a feeling I was picking it up in utero!!!! My mother just always sewed everything for us, until we could sew our own. Did I really "learn" to sew...no, it just came naturally--I actually tell people that I learned when I was a wee one at my mother's knee.

Now I will try to link this post on my blog. my blog is www.linda-thisnthatintherosegarden.blogspot.com

I first heard about you on the Everything Sewing forum. I have a 19 month old granddaughter who loves pretty clothes and your patterns have caught my eye. I learned to sew when I was pregnant with our first baby. I couldn't find any attractive maternity clothes and I figured fitting wouldn't be too much of an issue for maternity clothes. After our son was born, I made things for him and then for our daughter who arrived a year and a half later. Sewing has saved my sanity through my husband's military career and raising two children and now that I am retired, I get to sew every day! I'm looking forward to trying your patterns (hopefully winning them!!) and to more of your creativity--thanks!

Actually, I think you found me from SF, and I was your first follower here.
My mom taught me to sew when I was young. I made clothes for my dolls, and then later she taught me how to piece quilt tops.
This pattern is one of the cutest I've seen. I posted about the giveaway on my blog.

I learned to sew by watching my aunt, she gave me a needle with thread and a stamped pillowcase and that was the first hand sewing I learned to do. Great question.

Laura,

I kept seeing these darling little "dancer " skirts on the sew forum site. I went searching the internet for the pattern and found your blog. Those little skirts along with your other patterns are so sweet.

I am the mother of 3 and the proud grandmother of 2 little girls. I learned to sew at the age of six on my grandmothers' treadle Singer sewing machine. Oh, how I would love to have that machine.

I don't have a blog but wanted to comment on your beautiful patterns.

I found you on sew forum- I'm coleconky.

I'm following you now and will post this contest on my blog, too.
How fun!
