Remember this sweet little outfit?

Well, I maybe already told you but because of the numerous emails I received asking me to make this available, I took some time to revise the pattern and it is being tested this week.  It should be available for sale next week.

Here are my first pictures back from one of the testers:

She did a beautiful job on the Lil' Bluebird applique:

Thanks Michelle!  You did a wonderful job.  I love the colors you chose and your daughter is just so cute!

I also received some pictures this week from Keisha who made my Dancer skirt for her little girl's first day of school.  I love getting pictures - it is so fun to see people's creativity!

Showing you the smocking... (isn't that little belly so cute?)

And I love this one.  Don't her big brothers look like they want to protect her as she starts school?  So sweet.

I am also smocking a Dancer skirt right now since that is what the winner of my Giveaway chose for her prize.  It is in bright and funky Christmas prints.  I may make one for Miss E too.

Watch for Lil' Bluebird to be available soon and I have a special free surprise for you in a few days that I'm super excited about!

Almost finished with Lil' Bluebird

One of my dear sewing friends, Karen, sent me some beautiful pictures today of her daughter in my two newest patterns: Lil Bluebird and Dancer.  I'm not going to show you the Dancer ones yet.  You will have to wait a few days for that but here is her version of Lil' Bluebird.  The purple is so sweet on her.  Of course a paper bag would look beautiful on Miss E so I'm not sure this is saying much for my patterns!!

I'm sorting through all my testers' comments and completed questionnaires tonight to finish editing Lil' Bluebird.  I know there are some waiting on me to hurry and finish writing this and I'm trying!  We had a weird week with sickness and crazy business with the kids.  But, that is past and I'm so excited that I am finally able to get my high speed internet today!!  Can you believe I was still trying to maintain a blog with dial-up??  I have all kinds of fun things I'm hoping to do with my blog now.  I hope you will visit me again and see what's new!

So sweet!

Lil' Bluebird is coming back from the testers today and I have to share some pictures with you.  If you're confused about what patterns I'm working on, don't worry...I was working on two at once!!  You've seen Dancer so meet, Lil' Bluebird!!

Isn't she a sweetheart?  One of my testers sent me this picture of her granddaughter.  She made the pleated version.

This is the gathered view and this tester added rickrack to the sleeves.  I love the strawberry print fabric she used.

And aren't these fabrics so spring-y, too!?  LOVE IT!

There will be more pictures coming.  I'm working on the ones for the pattern cover too.  This will be available for sale in the next week.  Almost time for my give-away!!

Working on "Dancer"...

This week has been fun!  I wanted to give you a few little sneak peeks of what I've been busy working on.  It is almost done.  I'm finishing up the writing of it and it will be going to testers this weekend.

Aren't these fabrics so fun together??  This is Marabella by Amy Hamberlin for Henry Glass Fabrics (not including the dots which I can't remember).  I got it at my local quilt shop.

And here are those cute little polka dots going through the pleater.  I just love anything with dots.  It wasn't a perfect pleating job - I ended up doing it again but those little dots are still cute!

One last piece of news..."Lil' Bluebird" is almost done!  I'm hoping to have it ready for sale next week.  After I post it on my website, I'm going to be doing a giveaway.  So keep checking back for that!

Writing a NEW PATTERN this week!!

Posted by Laura Johnson on April 5, 2010 at 10:08 AM Comments comments (0)

Today is a day to put away Easter decorations and candy (of course sneaking a couple pieces out of the kids' baskets first....shhh!) and get back to work!!!

My new pattern is really fun!  It is a flirty skirt.  Can't you almost just hear the maracas shaking?  It is a fun one for summer.  I'll show you some pictures later in the week.  I'm excited to start working on it today.

Lil Bluebird is coming back from some of the testers and oh my, what cute outfits they have made.  It won't be long til this one will be available to purchase.  Just need to shoot some cover pictures!  And it's a bright sunny day today so it will be very soon!

Have a great week everyone!  I will be in my sewing room!!!

Easter Finery (Part One)

Posted by Laura Johnson on March 26, 2010 at 12:00 PM Comments comments (1)

I haven't posted in a few days but it's not because I haven't been busy! I have sewn two test garments for my new Lil' Bluebird pattern and am very pleased with how it's turning out. I have a few things left to finish in writing it and then it's off to my testers this weekend! It should be available soon.

But, since I don't believe in posting without pictures, I thought I would show you Elisabeth's Easter dress this year. I used pink dotted swiss from Fine Stitchery and it was soooo nice to work with. Underneath is a matching pink batiste slip. This was my first time using silk ribbon embroidery and although, I may be totally embarrassed a year from now that I posted such an amateurish attempt, right now I'm happy with it! It took some time to unpick all the dots for the fully smocked bodice but the smocking went pretty quickly after that.

Off to go shopping for some coordinating material to make matching ties for my boys.  I'll post my free pattern for the tie in my Tutorial section for anyone doing last minute sewing like me!  Don't worry - the ties take no time at all.

New Pattern!!

I'm not going to tell you anything about this one except that it can be smocked or unsmocked!  I'm mean, I know!  But, I am needing testers for the following sizes:

Size 1

Size 4

Size 5

If you would like to help me out, please contact me.

In the next week, I'm going to be adding pictures to my photo gallery.  If you make something using one of my patterns, please send me the picture!  I always love to see!

"Sugar Horses" is currently at the testers and I'm getting good feedback.  It is a quick one to put together and doesn't use a lot of fabric - great stashbuster!  Look for that to be available for sale next week!
